Barnum's home, Lindencroft, designed and built by A.G. Tallmadge of Fairfield, CT and photographed by George W. Lovejoy of Bridgeport, CT. The house sits behind a fountain with Neptune in the center of the fountain. To the right side of the photo is a horse and carriage with driver. Lindencroft was P.T. Barnum's second family home from about 1860-1869, built in the Italianate style by A.G. Tallmadge. Barnum lived there with his wife Charity and their youngest daughter, Pauline, about 1000 yards away from where Iranistan once stood. It was used by the family until Waldemere was completed. The Bassick family purchased Lindencroft; it was remodeled and updated over the years, but was eventually demolished to make way for Bassick High School in 1924. Photographed by George W.
