Show moreThe photograph was taken the year before Lavinia Miller (rear, center of doorway with corsage) married photographer Clinton Hadsell. On this Sunday afternoon in July, the Miller family is outside their home on Nod Road. Built in 1789, the home was located on today’s Nod Way, and was later demolished. Pictured are Lavinia’s parents, Julius Keyes Miller, Sr. (1848-1906) and Maria Rebecca Cook Miller (1852-1938). Their children are dressed in white: (l-r) Bessie Gertrude, Lavinia Chloe, Arnold LeRoy and Nettie Estella. The girl in the dark colored blouse is Grace Woodford, a Nod Road friend. The gentleman on the far right is a family friend, who arrived on his bicycle leaning on the side of the house. Lavinia’s sister Nettie E. Miller married Samuel Antlif Hart in 1906, and the couple later occupied the Miller family home. Arnold LeRoy Miller (1894-1980) married Grace M. Ramsdell. Bessie Gertrude Miller (1886-1970) married Frank E. Moses on June 19, 1919. Bessie and Frank were the grandparents of Seth Stewart, who donated many Hadsell items to the Avon Free Public Library. Their daughter Eveline Miller Moses Stewart was Seth Stewart’s mother. Original title in CBH’s list for photograph #039:“JKM Family.” Original title on his paper sleeve: “Mr. J.K.
