Beatrice Cuming, a Brooklyn native, studied at the Pratt Institute and in Paris, and then the Art Students League in New York. She worked as an artist for the Works Projects Administration (WPA). She lived in New London and taught in the Young People's Art Program at the Lyman Allyn Museum.
