Approval of Minutes a. 2. 10/26/17 Motion made, and seconded, to approve the minutes as written 5:0:0 Informational Items a. Upcoming Departmental and Center reviews The committee discussed the process of Departmental and Center reviews. One suggestion is to have a department or center review when the chair position is open prior to the search commencing, so that the Dean is able to incorporate the review findings into the search. This happened to some degree with the recent review of Community Medicine and Health Care because Dr. Babor had announced he would be stepping down as chair. However, the self-study review has a lot of evaluation content specifically about the current chair and so it might need to be modified when questions related to a future chair and future resources are more compelling. The Oversight Committee does have input into the questions that are part of the review. There was discussion about how to incorporate questions related to a new chair into the review without causing undue burden on an outgoing chair. The committee is hoping to schedule Dr. Nissen to come to a meeting to further the discussion in January. 3. New Business a. 4. Open items - None Standing Monthly Reports a.
