Colonial Church shows artist Ernest Lawson's (1873-1939) interest in the New England landscape. He lived in Greenwich, Connecticut, briefly in his youth and returned periodically to paint. In this work, the upward movement of the church spire is mimicked by the natural shapes of trees in the foreground. Verso: The Milch Galleries;
