Artist Nelson Augustus Moore (1824 - 1902) was a landscape painter and photographer who lived in Kensington. The five churches are identified (from left to right): A: 1st Church, 4th Building; the Greek Revival fourth building of the First Church faced The Green from the north side, 1840-1875. The YMCA addition occupies this site today. B: 2nd Congregational Church, 1st Building; The first of the Second Congregational churches was built in 1855. The second structure at West Main Street and Holmes Avenue was dedicated in 1894. The original church occupied the site of what later came to be known as the Odd Fellows Building. C: 1st Catholic Church, previously St. John's Episcopal Church; St. Peter's. East Main Street. Torn down in 1888 after serving both as a school and a church to make way for St. Patrick's Hall, East Main Street. D: St. John's Episcopal E: 1st Baptist, Bank Street
