Interior of a schoolroom facing the door and an unoccupied teachers desk with books, a pair of bottles, and the handle of perhaps a bell. The blackboard states "Avon School 7, Nov.13, 1912" and gives a list of a dozen names on the "Honor Roll" with asterisks next to them. Another chalkboard contains a narrative on "a great battle between birds and beasts". A list of facts on early explorers of the New World is hung on a sheet of paper. To the left of the blackboard. Pictures, a thermometer, and an American flag are visible in various parts of the room. A "Fire King" metal stove sits in the center of the room. A piano is by the window. Desks are arranged in either side of the stove. Three students are barely visible on the right side of picture, their blurred spectral forms indicating motion at the time of exposure.School 7 was built in 1865, renamed Pine Grove Schoolhouse in 1927 and operated as a school until 1949. From 1949 to 1975 it served as a nursery school, branch library, and Boy Scout meeting place. In 1975 the property was acquired by the Avon Historical Society.
