    My Dear Brother,

If it would not be inconvenient for you, I should like to have you call here this evening in the library; -- there is to be company in the parlor, but I shall have nothing to do with it, and should be happy to have you spend the evening, if you can. If not, please do call as soon as convenient. There is something I wished to ask you about, and as I thought that if I did not write there was no probability of my seeing you before Sunday evening, when it would be too late to make any arrangement about it. Do not leave any engagement of your own, for it is nothing of very great importance, but I wanted to as your advice, and have the matter arranged while there was time.

    Yours as ever,

    C.L.C.
