    Farmington Feb 14th 1839.

    Thursday Morning.

    My dear brother,

I have been so much engaged since I last saw you that I have neglected to tell you of our delightful ride home in the darkness, and our safe arrival at half past eleven. The lamp burned very well, and was a great deal of company for us. I saw uncle Solomon last evening, he said that the Lecture had appeared more and more wonderful and beautiful to him every time he had thought of it; it seemed to him now that he had not appreciated it at first, though I thought his praises very warm at the time. –

Pray when are you coming home again? I do not think there will be any more sleighing, so do not wait for that. It is looking very pleasant here now—we hear birds singing almost every day, and the sun looks in at the North windows a few minutes in the morning, so that it is beginning to look quite spring-like. I hope the season will be early.

We have a girl now who does very well, so that you need not be afraid to come on that account.

Your noble-looking Southern friend has just come in, and is giving father an account of his adventures. You will not wonder that I want to listen.

    C. L. C.

P.S. I have seen you twice since you were so good as to buy those worsteds for me, but have forgotten them both times. I do not know exactly how much they were—I suppose, however, the enclosed is sufficient.
