Show moreTwo men in what appear to be naval uniforms, including sailor caps, stand beside an automobile with license number "PX 374 / Conn. 1936." Both men wear handkerchiefs or cloths tied over their mouths as masks, presumably for sanitary reasons. Both wear puttees. One man wears a belt with compartments and points with a club or stick. He foot is on the running board of the car. An electric power plant and metal tower are in the background. The Connecticut River is in the distance. Inscribed on form attached to back: "Cover nose in 'Gas Zone.'" Also inscribed on back: "Htfd. Elect. Light in / distance. / Probably from / Van Dyke Ave." Show less
