He has mustache and beard and wears a suit and bow tie. The square monument incorporates a bronze bas-relief depicting a man in eighteenth-century military uniform. Inscribed in image: "Camp No. 8 of French Auxillaries / under Rochambeau, June 29th 1761. / at Marion, in the Town of Southington / Conn. / Hazard."
