Frame house with louvered windows, columned entry porch, ell with ivy-covered porch is behind picket fence and gate. Frame structure, possibly residential and commercial, has pilastered bays, large pane windows, and inset door. Sign reads "Singer / Sewing / Machines / E. Medbury / [illegible]." Board ramp, hitching posts, and trees border dirt road and sidewalks. Inscribed on front: "Home of Dr. Samuel Hart / New Britain, on the Village Green."

Title supplied by cataloger. Dr. Hart received his diploma in 1808 and was the first physician to locate his practice in the center of town, on the west side of Main Street. Hart also ran a tavern and was a founder and supported of local school. He lived from April 7, 1786 until June 20, 1863.
