Description
View of municipal and commercial buildings decorated with flags and bunting. The classical building with an Ionic portico and louvered shutters at the far left has a sign that reads: "Dentist." The Richardsonian Romanesque municipal building has a square clock tower, a round tower and arched windows. It appears to be constructed of brownstone. A reviewing stand with bleachers and folding chairs is in front of it. A man stands on a ladder at the left of the platform. Two shield-shaped decorations appear to be set with electric light bulbs that spell: "1650" and "1900." A picture of an allegorical figure of a woman with a shield is surrounded with American flags. The next building to the right has signs that read: "Middletown / National Bank" "Organized A.D. 1801" and decorations that read: "1650" and "1900." Four men stand on the sidewalk. One is a policeman in uniform. The others stand near boards that appear to hold commemorative buttons, ribbons and souvenirs for sale. The brick building at the right has signs that read in part: "FarmersÂ… Bank" "Business School." Hitching posts and utility poles and wires line the street. Trolley tracks are in the dirt road.
