Drawing by Elbert Weinberg depicting three people and three dogs in the interior of a room. The dogs are looking towards a window where a fourth dog appears suspended in space. The three figures stand in a doorway at the right. Two of them, evidently a man and a woman, also appear to be looking towards the window. The third figure, in the background, appears to be a policeman. A completed game of tic tac toe at lower right appears to be part of the composition. The drawing is signed “EW ’78.” The title is ascribed. The subject of the drawing is unclear. It is not related to any known sculptures by Weinberg and was probably made as an independent drawing, possibly intended for sale.
Sculptor Elbert Weinberg (1928-1991) was a Hartford native and Weaver High School graduate who maintained a studio in the Colt Building for many years. He worked in various mediums, including marble, bronze, and other metals. Twice awarded the prestigious Prix de Rome, Weinberg created sculptures that grace museums, public installations, and private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
