Newly widened Main Street and John Hansen furniture store, Hartford

View looking down Main Street, Hartford. A project to widen Main Street appears to have been completed, and the John Hansen furniture store and other businesses occupy a building on the left side of the street that is probably newly constructed. Cars, a truck and trolley cars can be seen in the roadway. The History of Hartford Streets, by F. Perry Close, describes the 1928 street widening project as involving the move of the east side of Main Street from Windsor Street to Pleasant Street. Area depicted is identified in a similar image as near the intersection with Goodman Place.
