Show moreView looking east down East Main Street of the Civil War Soldiers' Monument, East Main Street and Broadway, Mystic. The monument is surmounted by the statue of a soldier standing next to his rifle, which rests on the ground. He holds the barrel of the rifle with both hands. Visible on the side of the base below the statue to the right are a wreath, then the word "ANTIETAM," a state seal, and an inscription that reads: "DEDICATED TO THE BRAVE SONS OF/ MYSTIC WHO OFFERED THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR/ COUNTRY,/ IN THE WAR OF THE REBELLION./ 1861, [sic] - 1865. On the adjoining face to the left, "DRURY'S BLUFF" is carved. An iron fence is partially visible around the monument. Houses can be seen in the background. Show less
