Show moreView of structures in a church/school complex, Putnam. In the right foreground a stone wall and steps are surmounted by what appears to be an ornamental iron fence. Women in religious habit are on and next to the steps. An iron gate behind them is closed. Above the gate is an arch with the words "PENSIONNAT DE N.D. DE BON SECOURS" ["The Boarding School of Our Lady of Good Aid"). A cross can be seen at the apex of the arch. A man, apparently a priest or other cleric, stands to the right of the gate. In the area beyond are a number of children and nuns. A building with gables can be seen to the left. A three-story brick building with a mansard roof is partially visible on the far right. A large church, probably St. Mary's (Roman Catholic) Church, can be seen in the background. To the left are the remnants of another structure, identified as the ruins of the old church which burned in 1875. Show less
