Description
Crowds throng Main Street in Hartford to celebrate the rumored armistice. On November 7, 1918 an unofficial report was released by the United Press declaring that an armistice had been signed and the war would end at 2:00 p.m. that day. By that afternoon news agencies all over Hartford issued a correction but little could be done to stem the celebrations.
