Show moreMen sit in bentwood chairs at small round tables or stand beside the bar in the interior of a saloon or restaurant dining room. Some have mustaches. Some wear straw hats and bow ties. Most wear suits. Most hold steins, evidently containing beer. One man reads a newspaper. There are ashtrays on the tables. Two men, evidently bartenders, stand behind the bar. One wears a vest. The bar also serves as a lunch counter and bowls and plates of food, including a ham and other meats, are displayed on it. A cake is beneath a glass cover at the left. Liquor bottles are in a cabinet behind the bar. Large decorative German beer steins are on the cabinet. A decorative wallpaper frieze runs beneath the ceiling. Electric lights with shades and pull cords hang from the ceiling. Light fixtures are decorated with American flags, bunting and another national flag. Inscribed on back: "Otto Henning's Cafe / Temple Street / 1905 / Bar / William Schmidt / Opposite Brown Thomson & Co." Show less
