The portion of the collection that has been digitized consists predominately of personal and business correspondence, contracts, accounts, petitions, and personal writings of Silas Deane of Wethersfield, Connecticut, who served as an envoy to France seeking financial assistance for the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. A grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission funded digitization of this collection.
