Show moreView of the Holocaust Memorial by Elbert Weinberg at the Jewish Community Center in West Hartford, Connecticut. The memorial is in the form of two huge arms holding aloft a shofar. The configuration resembles the symbol for the Hebrew word chai, which means alive, or living. The monument is made of Corten steel and is eighteen feet high. Behind it, to the left, is the speaker’s platform for the dedication ceremony, which took place on October 10, 1981. Part of the building of the Jewish Community Center is at the far left. Show less
