Description
Drawing by Elbert Weinberg depicting the biblical patriarch Abraham holding his young son Isaac in his arms. Abraham has a beard and is wearing a heavy robe over his head. The boy Isaac is nude. The drawing probably alludes to the biblical story of the Sacrifice of Isaac. According to the account in Genesis, the first book of the Bible, God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac. As Abraham raised his knife to kill the boy, an angel appeared and told him not to harm him. The date of the drawing is unknown, but it appears to be early, possibly from the 1950s.
