Description
Drawing by Elbert Weinberg depicting the biblical patriarch Abraham and his young son Isaac. Abraham is standing supporting the nude figure of Isaac. Abraham has a beard, is barefoot, and is wearing long robes. The drawing probably alludes to the biblical story of the Sacrifice of Isaac. According to the account in Genesis, the first book of the Bible, God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac. As Abraham raised his knife to kill the boy, an angel appeared and told him not to harm him. The drawing is signed and dated “E. Weinberg 1954.”
