Show moreDrawing for a proposed sculpture by Elbert Weinberg entitled Between Heaven and Earth. The columnar form appears to have some figurative elements and may be meant to evoke the Greek god Atlas bearing the world on his shoulders. The drawing is on the back of a sheet of letter paper with the printed inscription “ELBERT WEINBERG / VIA APPIA PIGNATELLI, 368 – ROMA – TELEFONO 7990976”. A wax model of the sculpture to which it appears to be related was made in 1966 and the drawing was probably made about the same time. Weinberg returned to the theme in the 1980s. Show less
