Show moreThe Oral History Collection at the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford comprises interviews conducted by staff and volunteers of the historical society from 1968 to the present. The collection documents the Jewish community in Greater Hartford and the central Connecticut region. Some interviews were conducted as part of the general meetings of the society and took place before an audience; most were conducted privately at the homes of the interviewees. They cover a wide array of subjects that reflect the different experiences of the interviewees as well as the interests of the interviewers. As products of their particular time and place, some interviews may contain language or opinions that may be offensive to today’s readers. They are nonetheless part of an important historical record, and we are committed to making all the interviews available in the interest of research, teaching, and learning. The JHSGH is indebted to the many volunteers who have contributed their time and expertise to describe the collection, in particular by creating initial transcripts. We are currently working to finalize the transcripts to provide more complete access to the collection. If you have located an error in an interview transcript or other accompanying descriptive material and wish to correct it, please email the archivist at jhsgh@jewishhartford.org. If you believe an interview in this collection was made public erroneously and want to request a take-down, please email the JHSGH at jhsgh@jewishhartford.org with your concerns and we will do our best to address them.
