Reviews the history of many locally famous steamships that passed through New London, some coming along the coast, some on the runs from Norwich, Connecticut up the Thames River down to New London. He also discusses the Westerly and Watch Hill, Rhode Island steamer routes, and mentions the trolley system that ran from New London to Westerly. Mr. Cone recollects his father's experiences as a ferry captain across the Thames at New London.
