Description
Starboard view of side-wheel steamer City of Worcester with the Thames River and Groton shore visible beyond. A train can be seen in the middle of the picture and also carriages on Lower State Street (known as "The Parade") in the foreground. A passenger ferry, possibly the Uncas, can be seen in the center middle ground. The railroad ferry Groton is partially visible to the far right. Possibly taken during the City of Worcester's maiden voyage, 1881. Passengers can be seen crowded into the stern and on the various deck areas as well as on the clerestory roof of the ferry's dining room.
