Description
View of Mystic River highway drawbridge and part of the east (Stonington) side Mystic business district. Sign on the bridge reads "TROT NOT ON THIS BRIDGE". Large mansard-roofed building in the center is the Mallory Block (later known as the Newbury Block). Two signs can be seen on the side of the Mallory building. The first, just above the second floor, reads: "INSURANCE AGENCY"; the second, just above the first floor, reads "STOVES & TIN WARE". The building partially visible on the right is Washington Hall. Sign on the roof reads: "Thos. H. Newbury, House and Ship Plumbing, Tin Copper and Sheet Iron Works". Signs above the first floor read: "HOXIE & BROWN" (Grocers) and "HARDWA__".
