Title supplied by cataloger. Dr. Daniel Merriman was Director of the Bingham Oceanographic Laboratory at Yale University. He and co-workers Herbert E. Warfel and Jim Morrow collected specimens from Ellery Thompson's boat in the 1940s. This data supported marine survey reports on Long Island Sound fishery resources. (Citation: Ellery Franklin Thompson, Fisherman, Author; and Marine Painter / by Bernard Ludwig Gordon in The Log of Mystic Seaport, Fall 1989-Winter 1990, p. 101.) Mystic-born Ellery Thompson was a fisherman, artist and writer. He captained draggers out of Stonington for a number of years. Thompson was a local celebrity, noted for his paintings, storytelling and writings, which included Draggerman's Haul (1950) a memoir of his maritime adventures.
