Records of We Are Artists Everyone Exhibition

2015 to 2020
We Are Artists Every One: The Art Center in Action, 1970 – 1986 (hereafter We Are Artists) was a project designed to examine critically the Art Center, a productive, creative space that existed in Bridgeport, Connecticut during the 1970s and first half of the 1980s. Formally known as the A.B.C.D. Cultural Arts Center, the Art Center fostered artistic expression with a social service ethos in a community that had concurrent pockets of beauty, health, ugliness and dysfunction. The exhibit was designed to not only share and exhibit the history of the center itself, but generate material that can then be added to the archives of the Bridgeport History Center and therefore preserve an incredibly rich history of Bridgeport. This digital collection reflects a hybrid of born digital content and physical material. Due to the high level of born digital content. BHC has strived to make as much available as possible. The artwork featured in this collection retains the copyright of it's creators, not the Bridgeport History Center. The inclusion of material by various artists is meant to reflect the exhibition and it's contents.
