Interviews and Oral Histories (CHI Politics Featured Topic)

The lives and achievements of politically active individuals include oral histories of Connecticut’s longest-serving state legislator, George Gunther, as well as three women among those interviewed for the “Enfranchised Women” project, now part of the University of Connecticut Archives and Special Collections oral history collection. In his long career, Gunther championed environmental conservation. The three “Enfranchised Women” interviews evidence political activities and accomplishments in the early and mid-twentieth century on a number of fronts, including birth control, women’s political and economic rights, and world peace.
