This issue of Contact from March, 1977 features an article on the life of Dr. Carter Woodson and an excerpt from a speech by Malcom X to commemorate the anniversary of his death. Also included is an account of a talk given at UConn by Professor Charles Hamilton, an article calling for the ending of surveillance of black students in dining halls, and information about the work of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. There is a piece on Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers; a review of the play “Feelin’ Good”; and poetry by Fatima Cortez El-Mohammed, Michael Walker, Rodney Vann Swift, Khalil Naser Shareef, D’Asgora Roberson, and Kamau Akil. In addition, there is an article on capital punishment in the US and a reflection on the issues facing black youth.
