Description
Wooden bridge with a few small glass windows and wooden railings, abutment, and pier. Advertisements are posted on an interior wall; one, posted multiple times, advertises a fair. Bridge is reflected in the water. This covered bridge, built over the Housatonic River at Bridge Street in 1854, was swept away in a flood in 1904. It was replaced the same year by the Bridge Street Iron Bridge which in turn was replaced by the Veterans Memorial Bridge in 1954.
