Description
This issue of Contac from October, 1972 features articles on socioeconomic and political issues, information about groups and organizations at UConn, and profiles of UConn students. The issue includes a piece on how religion and democracy have been used to exploit the American people, as well as a reflection on the black vote in the upcoming presidential election. There are also articles on the Black Voices of Freedom, a gospel choir formed at UConn in 1970, and UConn’s Black Experience Committee. The issue contains poetry by Milton Collins, a prisoner in New Jersey involved in Black Studies, and profiles of Claudette Anderson, a UConn undergraduate studying psychology, and Gene Young, a graduate student and the new director of Heritage, the Black theater workshop. The issue also includes a letter from the Political School of Kawaida.
