Description
"The Jeep" was a World War II era newsletter for primarily Jewish servicemen produced by the Young Women's War Service Club of the Bridgeport Jewish Community Center. This newsletter served as a mechanism to share information from and with Bridgeport area servicemen during World War II. Women from Bridgeport's Jewish Community Center would solicit or receive correspondence and news from and about (mostly) men serving in the armed forces during the War. The newsletter was sent out both stateside and abroad to those serving so that they could keep in touch with the goings on in Bridgeport and what was happening with fellow community members who were also serving. The newsletter includes articles written by the editors as well as features and contributions from well-known local journalists and cartoonists such as Harry Neigher, William Shugrue, and Al Capp. There was a substantial editorial board and a President, Ruth Belzer.
