Description
Photograph of Waldemere. It is taken from the right angle, and features the mansion with American flag waving from the highest point. Waldemere was the third home that P.T. Barnum built, and it was an elaborate Victorian home in Seaside Park. The location was chosen on the advice of Charity Barnum's doctor, who suggested sea air might help with her illness. In addition to the main building, the property had cottages on the ground including Wavewood which was occupied by his daughter Caroline, and the Petrel's Nest which was for guests. The house endured for twenty years, making it the one that Barnum lived in for the longest. The University of Bridgeport sits on the former grounds. Measures 16.25 by 12.25 inches. No date is given and no photographer is named.
