This issue of Contact from October, 1977 features a description of UConn’s “Day of Pride '' event, information about Contact's goals for the upcoming year, and an account of a general meeting held by the Black Students for Progressive Thought to discuss student involvement. There is an article on the rally held by the Storrs chapter of the International Committee Against Racism, as well as a letter from Rev. Benjamin Chavis from jail to President Carter appealing for clemency for himself and the Wilmington 10. Also included is an article about Manny Lomax, the new Director of Heritage Theatre; a profile of UConn soccer player Medrick Innocent; and a piece about UConn administrator Freda Peters and her work with minority students. Furthermore, there is a piece highlighting the wins of two black football players at UConn, Herb DeGraffe and Terry Ramsey. The poetry in this issue is by Eva Highsmith, James Westberry, Kim Sanders, Lynda Crawford, Robin Holmes, and Michael Armstrong.
