Description
Wooden school house with door on gable end and a smaller structure (woodshed?) attached to the back. A flag pole is mounted over the door. A women is seated in the doorway. The fieldstone outhouse in back, depicted elsewhere in the collection, identifies this as Number 3 School. School No.3 was built and opened in 1823 and used until 1938. In 1981 it was rescued from demolition by the Avon Historical Society and concerned local citizens and turned into the Living Museum.
