Description
Photograph with "Lindencroft" written in blue ink on the photograph. This view of Lindencroft is taken from across the street. It is flanked by greenery by either side, and a fence is visible in front of the home. The street is also visible, and it looks as if there are trolley tracks laid in front. Lindencroft was P.T. Barnum's second family home from about 1860-1869, built in the Italianate style by A.G. Tallmadge. Barnum lived there with his wife Charity and their youngest daughter, Pauline, about 1000 yards away from where Iranistan once stood. It was used by the family until Waldemere was completed. The Bassick family purchased Lindencroft; it was remodeled and updated over the years, but was eventually demolished to make way for Bassick High School in 1924. Unknown photographer, 1860-1924.
