Description
(1) b/w photographic print scanned from original 1918 print; Corbit's Studio. Group portrait, B.C.W.I.U., Local 210, men and children with union banners, Labor Day. Photo shows men in the Bakery and Confectionery Workers International Union of America, Local 210 dressed for a Labor Day parade and holding banners. Children (presumably family members) sit in the front row and are also dressed for the holiday. Each person is holding a staff like tool (used for baking?) that is decorated with an American flag. The donor's husband's grandfather was Joseph Weissman. Weissman owned New York Baking Company on Pembroke Street on Bridgeport's East Side. Weissman was originally from Austria and initially worked for and lived with the Dober family (Moses) on the East Side when he first came to Bridgeport. Weissman is standing in the second row from the top, fourth from the left. He was the donor's husband's maternal grandfather. Bridgeport History Center
