A large wooden board on a pole reads: "Fares of the Bridge / Each Man and Horse / Foot Passenger / Horse or Mule Led or Driven / Ox or Other Neat Kine Led or Driven / Sheep, Swine or Goat / Chaise, Chair, Sulky or Gig / Cart or Wagon Drawn by One Horse / One Horse Barouche / Curricle with Two Horses and Driver / With or Without Passengers / Four Wheel Pleasure Carriage / With Two Horses and Driver / with or Without Passengers / Two Horse Pleasure Sleigh and Driver / Sled, Sleigh, Cart or Wagon, / Drawn by Two Beasts Loaded / or Empty and Driver / One Horse Pleasure Sleigh and Driver / Extra Beast." Men, women and a small child, some blurred from movement, stand near the sign. A large granite block is behind them. Decorated light poles on the Bulkeley Bridge are visible in the background. Inscribed on back: "Old Toll board / at new bridge / Oct. 08."
