Description
Photograph of William Cody, known as Buffalo Bill. He sits with a cowboy hat on, a fringe jacket, and a well kept beard and mustache. William Frederick Cody, best known as Buffalo Bill (February 26, 1846-January 10, 1917) was, among other things, an American scout, hunter of game, and showman. He served as a civilian scout for the US Army, fought for the North during the American Civil War, and in his later years, formed Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. This venture provided entertainment and traveled, much like P.T. Barnum's circuses, which were contemporary to and in competition with the Wild West Shows. Measures 3.5 by 5.5 inches. No photographer is named. n.d.
