Description |
Description
A granite fountain with a basin, bench, and a Corinthian column supporting a globe with fish and decorated with a lion's head and two lanterns is in the foreground. The base is inscribed: "Erected A.D. MDCCCLXXXIX." Young trees grow in a grassy lawn, part of the village green. The stone Gothic building at the left is the Battell Chapel. It has a round tower, a square tower, an apse and a porch. The church at the right with a bell in its steeple is the Congregational Church. Inscribed on back: "Battell Chapel, Fountain, Congregational Church, Norfolk."
