Description
A dressed stone Federal style church with neoclassical front porch of four Doric columns and steeple with left and front clock faces facing the viewer. A small post with placard, a telephone pole, and a lamp post stand to the left of the church. A shed or stable is visible behind the church, and two houses to the right.The First Congregational Church of Plainfield was founded in 1705. The present building dates to 1819, built to replace the second meeting house (1784) destroyed in the September gale of 1815.
