Description
This issue of Contac from November, 1973 features “Love in Stolen Moments,” a one-act play by Jai Smith, and an article introducing an anthology of poems by black writers at UConn, edited by Connie Thomas. This issue also includes a poem titled, “Blacklove is…A Bitter/Sweetness” by Julianne Malveaux, as well as poems by Pocus (a student at Eastern Connecticut State College) and Robert Brown (an inmate at Attica prison). There is an article about Heritage, the black theater workshop at UConn, and a piece on the history of Black media at the university. Additionally, the issue contains a report on minority enrollment, as well as an article discussing the results of a study conducted by Kitty Hawk Unlimited, which highlights the neglect of minorities at UConn. There is also information about the UConn organization “Outmates” and the university’s summer program. Further, there is an article by Dennis Morgan, the Black Program Director and DJ, about the music schedule on the WHUS radio station.
