Description
Bird's-eye view of a small industrial town, located on the Quinebaug River. Several bridges, including a covered bridge, cross the river. Several mill dams are visible. Factories include the Morse Mill, the Powhatten Mill, the Nightingale Mill, the Putnam Manufacturing Co., and the Putnam Woolen Mill. The Congregational, Episcopal, Methodist, and Baptist churches are scattered throughout the town. St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and convent are at the left. Houses, including mill housing, and a few small trees line the streets. The tracks, station, and freight yard of the Norwich and Worcester Railroad are in the background.
