Description
Iron bridge with arched girders and pedestrian walkways on both sides. Miner Lumber Company buildings are in the distance to the left. Sign posted to the right of the entrance warns of a fifteen ton load limit. Sign above the entrance reads “1888, Built by the Berlin Iron Bridge Co., East Berlin, Conn. ...”; This bridge over the Farmington River, built to replace a wooden covered bridge from the 1840s, was swept away in the flood of 1955 and replaced the following year by a concrete highway bridge. The road shown in the photograph is Bridge Street (Route 179).
