This issue of Contact from March, 1976 features descriptions of Afro-American History Week at UConn, including accounts of the musical performances of the Black Voices of Freedom Gospel Choir, the Lee Rozie Quartet, and Lonnie Liston Smith. There is an article about black feminist Faith Ringgold, a piece examining the Center for Black Studies, and a look at the educational debates surrounding Black Dialect. Also included is an editorial by Nathaniel Bracey; a description of the Crescent House at UConn; and poetry by Ronald Lelghow, Steve Fortes, Victor Huggins, and Freddie Clarke. Additionally, there is a piece on Talib Stringer, the new program director of UConn Radio WHUS, and a description of the annual meeting of the organization of New England Minority Women Administrators. There is an article by the Third World Students Union on the politics of science, a request for donations for the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the New York Public Library, and a piece on Puerto Rican activist Martin Sostre. Furthermore, there is an article on Roy Innis, president of the Congress of Racial Equality, and an examination of the FBI’s work to discredit the Black Panthers.
