Description
View of the Standard Beef Co., State Street, New Haven, prior to redevelopment. View shows a three-story brick building with signs above the storefront advertising products. Among the items advertised are: Gemma Oil, Sniders Lily of the Valley products, Krey's products, and Sugar Creek Real Cream Butter. A man wearing a white coat stands in one on the two doorways opening on to the street. A billboard on top of the building reads: "Since/1876/GUILFORD 'Hand/Packed' TOMATOES/PURITAN/PUMPKIN and SQUASH". The two-story building on the left also has a sign for Standard Beef Co., indicating that it is a distributor of Heinz products. A man can be seen walking on the sidewalk to the right of the Standard Beef buildings. A sign partially visible above him has the number "159".
