Description
A New Haven Railroad car inspector stands next to a freight car that rests partly on the rails and partly on the rail bed at the Windsor Street yards in Hartford, November 6, 1963. Caption clipping on reverse reads: "BIG DIPPER -- James D'Elia, car inspector for railroad, looks like he is holding up loaded freight car that jumped track in Windsor St. yards overnight. Actually it is resting securely at this 45 degree angle. Western Maryland car, it had been partly unloaded of furniture cargo Tuesday but how it tipped this way today is mystery.--[Times-Boardman." Credit stamped on reverse for photographer Morton J. Boardman is partially visible under label for administrative information. Written on reverse, in addition to stamped date: "New Haven Railroad -- Accidents".
